
ABOUT THE CONCERT
On May 11th, 2022, the Detroit Children’s Choir (DCC) will host its first live concert since the start of the pandemic! Together, students from six Detroit Public Schools and our Saturday Civic Choir, representing children from the Tri-county area, will raise their voices in song. This page includes information and links for students and their parents/guardians.

STUDENT INFORMATION
All students are required to fill out a registration form in order to perform. This form includes t-shirt size, emergency contact information, and other important information. Forms are due no later than April 29, 2022.
Attire
- The Detroit Children’s Choir will provide T-shirts for the students as part of the uniform. Families are required to provide black pants/skirts for students.
Concert Schedule
- 3:15-3:30 PM – Students ARRIVE at church by bus (via bus or parent drop off)
- 4:00 PM – MASS REHEARSAL BEGINS with all students from (6) schools and the Civic Choir
- 5:30 PM – Students break for dinner
- 6:30 PM – Students move back to main church to get ready for the concert
- 7:00 PM – Concert begins; 1st set features the Civic Choir / 2nd set features ALL STUDENTS
- Approx. 8:15 PM – Concert Concludes
- After Concert - Upon conclusion of the concert, students will leave stage and return to their seats until their school is called on for dismissal.
IMPORTANT: With the exception of students from Hutchinson and Shulze, parents/guardians must pick up students from the church after the concert. Details may change between now and May 11. Check with your individual schools for the latest updates.
Transportation
- Hutchinson@Howe - Students will be bussed to the venue AND back to their school after the concert. Parents pick up their students at their school.
- Shulze Academy for Technology & Arts - Students will be bussed to the venue AND back to their school after the concert. Parents pick up their students at their school.
- Pulaski Elementary-Middle School - Students will be bussed to the venue after school, but NOT back to their school after the concert. Parents must pick up students from the church after the concert.
- [Update 5/5/22] Coleman A. Young Elementary - NO BUSSING PROVIDED! Parents/families are responsible for transporting students TO and FROM the concert venue. Students may need to leave school early in order to arrive at the Basilica of Ste. Anne de Detroit by 3:30 PM.
- Detroit Achievement Academy – NO BUSSING PROVIDED! Parents/families are responsible for transporting students TO and FROM the concert venue. Students may need to leave school early in order to arrive at the Basilica of Ste. Anne de Detroit by 3:30 PM.
- Mark Twain Elementary – NO BUSSING PROVIDED! Parents/families are responsible for transporting students TO and FROM the concert venue. Students may need to leave school early in order to arrive at the Basilica of Ste. Anne de Detroit by 3:30 PM.

VOLUNTEER SIGN UP
We thank you for all of your support! Volunteer sign-ups have closed.
Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, Neighbors, and Friends - WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We have 180 students from six Detroit schools coming together to perform. We need volunteers and chaperones to assist before and after the concert.
We have three shifts to accommodate different schedules: 3:00 - 6:00 PM, 4:30 - 7:30 PM, and 6:00 - 9:00 PM. Sign up for one, two, or ALL shifts! All volunteers are invited to join the students for dinner before the show.
Volunteer activities include:
- Set up for concert - registration table, signage, etc.
- Assisting in chaperoning the students throughout the event
- Dinner assistance (set up, serve, easy clean up)
- Usher guests to seats
- General clean up - make sure the church is left in order
